Connecting to the World
While the post-mining landscape area is well-equipped for automobile traffic, it is not as accessible for residents and visitors. To return the land to the people, accessibility and connectivity are crucial.
Hidden Places
Unused railway sidings, impassable areas without marked paths, and closed private roads hinder free movement in this area. There is a lack of safe access roads from major settlements and hubs, as well as marked pedestrian and cycling routes. These improvements will facilitate access to the many tourist attractions in the region.
Vision
The development concept for the post-mining landscape of Karviná, led by Moravian-Silesian Investments and Development, a.s. (MSID), aims to connect this area with surrounding cities and key regional centers. Specifically, it seeks to link Ostrava, Bohumín, Český Těšín, and other border towns, including those on the Polish side. Enhancing access to significant sites within the area itself is equally important.
