Thematic Calls for the Operational Program Just Transition

The Operational Program Just Transition 2021–2027 (OPJT) is a new program aimed at helping people in former “coal regions” address the negative social, economic, and environmental impacts associated with the transition to a climate-neutral economy. It is intended for coal regions, specifically the Karlovy Vary, Moravian-Silesian, and Ústí nad Labem regions.

The program will have approximately 42 billion CZK available, of which nearly 19 billion CZK is allocated for the Moravian-Silesian Region. For residents of coal regions, this means additional funds. The Operational Program will support projects in a total of seven thematic areas: entrepreneurship, research and development, clean energy, digital innovation, land restoration, circular economy, and people and skills.

The support is aimed at the restoration of areas affected by brown and black coal mining. It targets areas directly impacted by mining, as well as related and adjacent areas. The program offers support for a wide range of solutions, such as land development planning, preparatory work, remediation of contaminated sites, construction of technical or transport infrastructure, or projects bringing new economic or public-benefit activities to the area.
